Welcome

Welcome to our second Golcar Lily Day. There’s something for everyone and we hope you enjoy the wide range of entertainment and activities. The theme for 2008 is ‘Do you remember?’ It has been a good excuse to get out all the old photographs and souvenirs and to see how many memories they stir up of past times and places.

Golcar’s Environment Group works hard all year to improve the village’s appearance with clean ups and flower planting. This year the group has also spent time identifying the many wells in the area, some of which still exist. There will be opportunities to visit them and you will also be able to take a walk through the ginnels again.

This year, Lily Day is stretching right across Golcar: from Bolster Moor and Scapegoat Hill to the Sycamore Avenue shops, from Golcar Baptist church to Parkwood Methodist church — and all points in between. As well as the usual local transport services, two free yellow buses will be running around the different venues. And don’t forget that Golcar is a beautiful place for a walk.

Enjoy the feasts of food, drink and entertainment. Have a lovely day.
